Pachinko Modernization 2024, 3D printed PETG plastic
I was fortunate enough to find a 1970s era pachinko machine on the streets of Greenpoint. When they were used back in the day, they were mounted directly into long walls of the parlor. Some contemporary efforts by others have successfully made tabletop rigs and swivels. But I wanted to modernize it by mounting it directly on the wall. I wanted to celebrate the original experience of what it must have been like to stand and play in one of those smokey parlors of Tokyo.
Using Fusion 360 I addressed the following problems and set about designing physical solutions. I I really enjoyed working on this machine because other than the simple lighting circuits it is completely mechanical and gravity driven. I knew the movements and parameters I had to design for and was able to physically test on the machine.
The final result is a compact and functional amendment to the machine with all of its past beauty. It easily mounts onto the wall with 2 anchored screws.
